William G. (Bill) McShane, 88, passed away quietly at Villa Maria Nursing Home in Fargo on March 5 , 2009, surrounded by his family. His funeral will be at 10:00 a.m. Monday, March 9, 2009 at Riverview Place Chapel, Fargo. There will be a Prayer Service at Riverview Place at 7:00 p.m. on Sunday. Visitation will be at Riverview place from 5:30 p.m. to 7:00 p.m. Sunday and one hour before the funeral Monday. Burial will be at Holy Cross North Cemetery, Fargo. Arrangements by Boulger Funeral Home, Fargo. He was a beloved son, husband, father, grandfather, and great grandfather. He was born in Elliott, North Dakota to George and Frances (Sheridan) McShane. He grew up in Lisbon, and Wheatland, North Dakota and graduated from High School there in 1937. He attended St. John?s University in Collegeville, MN for one year prior to joining the United States Army Air Corps. He is a World War II Veteran having served in England and France from 1942-1945, receiving his honorable discharge on December 7, 1945, 4 years to the day of the attack on Pearl Harbor. He spent 41 years with the Northern Pacific Railway/Burlington Northern as a Conductor and Brakeman. He is preceded in death by his son, Patrick McShane. He is survived by his wife of 67 years, Margie Jendro McShane; ten children, Marjean (Ronald) DeCesare, Edina, MN, Cate (Bill) Coghlan, St. Cloud, MN, Michael (Carole) McShane, Shorewood, Mn, Coleen (Joseph) Jordahl, Fargo, ND, Philip (Jennifer) McShane, Fargo, ND, Kevin (Jill) McShane, Chanhassen, MN, Mary (Keith) Irestone, St. Paul, MN, Beverly (Glenn) Malnory, Fargo, ND, Thomas (Deb) McShane, Fargo, ND, Timothy (Carol) McShane, Edina, MN. His great passion , along with his wife, Margie, were his children, 25 grandchildren, and 23 great grandchildren. There are 82 family members from this happy marriage. His Irish wit, storytelling, and gift of gab will be greatly missed by his family and all those whose lives he touched. The family would like to give special thanks to Riverview Staff, Spectrum, Villa Maria Staff, and Hospice of the Red River Valley.
