William Schaffer

William (Bill) Schaffer passed away on Monday, Nov 2, 2020 at Eventide Nursing Home, Fargo, ND. He was born July 11, 1944 In Edgeley, ND where he grew up on the family farm. As a young man he worked in Leeds, SD, in the Gold Mine for a couple of years. In 1964 he moved to Fargo, ND and worked for Firestone Tire.
In 1966 he married Jacki Klodt, they had one child, Billi Annette. In 1968 they moved to Portland, Oregon. There he worked for Lockheed Airport until retirement.
He married Gloria Keller who passed away from lung cancer. After spending 54 years in Portland he moved back to Fargo,ND to be closer to immediate family.
He loved Portland, the beautiful scenery, ocean and mild temperature. He enjoyed driving to the Coast, camping, fishing, and hunting. He made many new friends and fond memories. He was full of life, always a big smile. He loved to laugh and tease. He had a giving heart and would always help anyone in need. He was an avid coin collector, and had a love for fast cars. He loved his grandchildren.
He left behind his daughter Billi and her husband Ken Dube, his grandchildren, Brady, Garrett, Madison, McKail; and a step granddaughter, Cherie Smith whom he hellp raise. He is survived by his sisters, Irene Ohnstad, Bertha (Kenneth) Wolff, Helen (Allan) Lambrecht, Carol (Wallace) Berg. Two brothers, Bernard (Patricia) Schaffer, Victor (Mary) Schaffer, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Andrew and Barbara, his brothers, Herman, Clarence, Raymond, brother-in-law Marvin Ohnstad, sister-in-law LaVonne, and niece, Yvonne Erickson.
The funeral service will be at Boulger Funeral Home on Nov 5, at 2pm, with visitation an hour before.
Sorry to hear of Bill’s death. Thinking of you and Praying God gives you all the strength to get through this. Bill is now reunited with the loved ones who went before him to prepare a place for him.
