William (Bill) D. Silver Bill Silver, 67, passed away on February 10, 2009 after living courageously with Multiple Myeloma Cancer for the past three years. Bill was born in Fargo, North Dakota, on February 24, 1941, to Evelyn and Samuel Silver. Bill attended grade school in Amenia, ND and went on to graduate from Oak Grove Lutheran High School in 1959. He enrolled at North Dakota State University and then enlisted in the Naval Reserves completing his training in 1964. In 1967 Bill received his degree in Business and Political Science. During his university years, Bill worked at the Straus Clothing Company where he enjoyed many years of camaraderie with his fellow workers, customers and employer. At NDSU, Bill was also a proud member of the Sigma Chi Fraternity and then served as an alumni advisor to his fellow brothers. Following graduation from NDSU, Bill went to work for Standard Oil as a sales representative in Fargo, Minot and Jamestown. Returning to Fargo in 1976, Bill was employed at Fargo Ford Tractor, Pat McGrath, Midwest Industrial and finally at RDO Equipment. Bill married Margaret Mary Palmer, January 8th, 1968. Bill and Margaret (Margie) are the proud parents of three beautiful daughters, Leslie Silver of Fargo, Beth Silver of Brazil, Alexandra Silver of Moorhead,MN and one adoring baby granddaughter, Estella Francisca Silver Lopes of Brazil. Bill was a committed sales representative for RDO Equipment and this year completed 30 years of loyal service to John Deere Industrial Construction. He continued to work diligently, whenever possible, even during the time of his illness. He was an ever faithful alumni of NDSU and had a proud and great love of his Bison and the green and gold. He could always be found at sporting events cheering the Herd on with the zest of a collegiate along with his fellow Bison Team Makers of which he was an active member for 37 years as well as being a past Team Maker president. Bill was a board member of the Red River Campfire Council. He also was an active and willing supporter of Leslie and Beth during the 12 years they were members of the FM Acro Team. He also had the honor of serving twice as the FM Acro team's president. Bill was a proud father of his daughter Alexandra?s modeling career. In addition to his daughters and granddaughter, Bill is survived by his wife Margaret, his mother, Evelyn Sorum Gifford, Fargo and father, Samuel Silver, Hawaii; step-father, Mearl Gifford, Fargo; an aunt, Margaret Sorum, Fargo; an aunt Betty Silver Eisenstadt, Hopkins, MN; one sister, Susan Silver, one brother, Mark Silver, one niece Lily Silver, step-mother Jean Silver all of Seattle, WA. His son-in-law, Jose Carlos Lopes, Brazil;his step-brother Bob Gifford (Rosie), Moorhead, MN; step-sister Dixie Lee Wadstrom, Houston, TX, as well as many nieces and nephews, devoted neighbors on Hickory Street and countless loyal friends. He is preceded in death by his brother Bruce Silver, Seattle, WA; grandparents Alvin and Anna Sorum, Amenia, ND; father in-law and mother-in-law Robert and Esther Palmer Fargo, ND; and his step-sister Arlene Badel, TX. Visitation: 2-4:30 p.m., Sunday at Boulger Funeral Home with a prayer service at 4:30 p.m. Funeral: 2:00 p.m., Monday, at NDSU Reineke Festival Concert Hall in Fargo. Burial: St. Joseph?s Catholic Cemetery in Moorhead, MN In lieu of flowers memorials are preferred.
