Once there was a boy born in the hills of snow and near a lake. To him they brought joy and passion his entire life. John Leon Mari was born November, 25 1962 in Bottineau, North Dakota to parents Justo and Diane Mari. There he learned to skate, snowmobile, fish, and hunt. He and his brother Jeff remember how they were the only kids at the rink who used old 50 pound rice bags to tow their hockey equipment. The other kids had potato sacks. In the winter of 1975, his dad joined Saint Luke's hospital and moved the family to Fargo. John attended Ben Franklin Middle School where he met some of his lifelong best friends. The 1981 state hockey champions came from Fargo North High School. John was pleased to be part of that team. The trophy is down stairs in the hockey shrine. He went on to study and play hockey at Concordia and NDSU, although you would only ever hear him say, "Go Sioux." We all worked during college back then and The Trader and Trapper was a popular spot. John was your bartender, a skill he still enjoyed showing off. That is where he met his wife of 36 years, Lynne Mock. She wrote him a check with a big tip to get his attention. They were married June 8th of 1985 in Braddock, North Dakota at St. Katherine’s Catholic Church. A traditional old time German Wedding! Even though Grandma Carol tried, John was not able to master the “polka”. That summer they moved to Oregon. There John attended Pacific University College of Optometry graduating in 1989. Back to the land of ice and snow and his first of 3 Alaskan malamutes! They made the Iron Range of Northern Minnesota their home where their first daughter Jordan was born. A few years later they returned to Fargo, where daughter Jade and son Jarett were born. John really enjoyed life, he made an effort to be part of the lives of all he loved. He spent countless hours at ice rinks, either coaching, playing, or cheering on a team. He looked forward to spending time on snowmobile trails with friends and family, pulling tubers and skiers at the lake, or relaxing on the pontoon, fishing Little McDonald, most of the time without a bite or a worry. He loved golf for the beauty of the course and to be with his buds. He was a great supporter of the only dancer in the family, Jade. He so loved family time that he employed four out of five immediate family members full time at 20/20 Vision Express in Fargo. Talk about keeping family close. John worked to live, he did not live to work. His lighthearted blissful spirit was always the life of a party, where he coined the famous “final final”... HOLYYY. He has bestowed countless nicknames on young and old, rocked with all his favorite bands, and kept his family close. His new favorite nickname was given to his first granddaughter, “Joc the Boss.” Johno left us the morning of November 6, 2021 due to COVID-19. He leaves behind to mourn his wife Lynne, daughter Dr. Jordan (Dr. James) Muir, Jade (Davis Geske) Mari, his son Jarett, granddaughter Jocelynne, bonus son Colten St. Clair, father Dr. Justo L. Mari as well as his siblings - sister Marilyn (Dr. Jim) Werre, brother Jeff (Kaley) Mari, and sister Jackie (Dr. Dan) Mengedoth, and many close knit nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his mother, Diane Mari. Dr. John's Video Tribute can be viewed below:

  87. I keep coming back to my memories of John coming to Fargo in the 1970s. Appearing at Ben Franklin Junior High, needing to make a new life as a teenager … from Bottineau. And needing to play hockey … with us. Two significant challenges.

He made both happen, remarkably well. I remember seeing him for the first time outside of school in some smelly locker room or warming house. His first day playing with guys he did not know. We connected with him quickly because, like we’ve read over and over, he was a consistently good guy – as a teenager! More importantly for us back then, he could skate. He stands out further because out of all the cocky, Northside hockey rats (and you know who you are) – John Mari seemed to be the only one who didn’t eventually agitate or infuriate other teammates, coaches, or teachers.

Thank you for the recollections and stories of John’s life. To the Mari family, I am so sorry for your profound loss this week.

    Mark Johnson – Minneapolis, MN

  90. The fact that there are already 20 pages of comments on this site speaks to how much John impacted people he met. His personality lit up a room and made you feel a little better and lot more happy in his presence. Around a campfire there wasn’t a song he didn’t know the words to and he always had a story or two that made you laugh til it hurt. After high school and college I didn’t see John a lot but always enjoyed running into him or seeing him at Kevin’s cabin for our occasional gatherings. It won’t be the same without him.

  109. We are so sorry to hear of John’s passing. He was always so friendly and loved to catch up and, of course, talk some hockey. Our hearts hurt for his family who were obviously so important to him when he spoke of you. We will keep you in our prayers and are so very sorry for your loss.

  110. Lynne and Family, So sorry to hear about the passing of John, what a shock! Sending prayers during this very difficult time.

  112. Dear Lynne and family,

There are no words from me or anyone that will take this deep pain away, but please know my heart breaks for your loss and I will pray for peace and strength in your hearts.

    So much love,
    Kelly Welle

  113. We are so sad for you and are holding you in our prayers. We really enjoyed getting to know John when he coached Gabe in hockey. Loved his big smile and the twinkle in his eyes.

  114. We are truly saddened to hear the news of Dr. Mari’s passing. Our deepest condolences go out to the Mari family. We wish you courage and comfort as you face the days ahead.

  115. Mari Family, I am deeply sorry. Words are never easy in this situation. Know you are all in my prayers.
I am sure he had many “Angels” greeting him in heaven. May your faith help in this time of grief.
Keep his memories alive. Tell stories, write them down, hang onto them. Now you have your Angel to watch over all of you. Love, Mary McManus

  116. So sorry for your loss. I was blessed to have many great conversations with John. Praying for John and his family.

  117. Alecia and I are so sad to hear about John. Personally, I feel so lucky to have known John and will always remember our many times together in Oregon. Our particular class at Pacific University had a higher than usual presence of upper midwest students and that’s my meeting and connection to John. Since Oregon was so far, our North Dakota group would often spend our Thanksgiving, Easter or any other holiday together. I will never forget those great times and connections.
John could tell a funny (real-life) story better than anyone. Here’s a classic:
John was working with TLC at the time and they had moved into a new location so a window covering rep came to his clinic. John was in a lasik consult and an ophthalmic tech knocked on the door and stated, “the blind guy” is here, What should I tell him? Both John and the patient were befuddled. Of course, John would laugh after the story just as hard as the rest of us. There were many more stories!

Please know we have the whole Mari family in our aching hearts. Prayers are constant for your strength.
    I’m so sorry Lynne!

  118. So sorry to hear of Dr. Mari’s passing. Condolences to the entire Mari family and especially those at 20/20.

  119. I chuckled at the nicknames….John’s nickname for our youngest was “Walter Peyton!” which he’d always joyfully greet her with! I’ll always remember him navigating us thru a treacherous and snowy trip up to Grand Forks—none of us should have been driving. He was a friend thru thick and thin and our neighbor for decades. John’s joyful enthusiasm for life rubbed off on us all and we are all better for having known him. We wrap your entire family in hugs, love, thoughts and prayers for strength and peace. Dave, Paula, Paris, Davis & Peyton Ekman

  120. This is so sad for me. I knew the Mari family very well from my days growing up in Bottineau, and John was on the Mites hockey team I coached. Of course he was one of the stars of the team and I was a fan of his from then days on.

My condolences to the Mari extended family and I hope to be able to catch up with all of you.

  121. I am so unbelievably saddened to hear of John’s passing. He was a great person, friend, husband and father. We worked together for a few years, but him going to OD school with Blaine, my husband, made him more than a coworker; he was also a friend. I will never forget his infectious laugh and all the funny stories he’d tell. He had a lot of them! He had a true zest for life and anyone who knew him was instantly in a better mood when he was around. Please know that we are thinking of you all, Lynne and family. If there is anything we can do, please let us know. Hugs.

  122. Lynne & Family,

I was shocked and sadden to learn of John’s passing. My thoughts and prayers are with you. Like many, I first got to know John while he worked at T&T in Moorhead, although I remember covering his playing days with the Spartans including the 81 state hockey championship.
We were all young and vibrant and enjoyed each others company….John, Rod Loren, Jeff Jackson, Scooter, Rick Black, Dale Fitterer….Cathy Rebstock..just to name a few. We laughed alot and there was no bigger, bolder laugh than John’s. I loved his laugh everytime we got a chance to visit.
John & Lynne’s wedding day was a thing of beauty. Joyous, fun, and memorable.
To Lynne and the entire family during this difficult time. Hold tight to the memories. Draw upon your support circle which is large. We can never replace John….but we are sure thankful he touched so many lives in such a spirted way. God Bless.

  123. Lynne, I am so sorry for your loss. I remember your romance from the beginning and have no doubt that it truly lasted all these years later. May all your shared memories sustain you in the days. weeks, months and years to come. John was a good guy…and you are a great woman!

  124. Lynne & family,
We were so sorry to hear of John’s passing. We both remember him fondly. He had such a loveable presence. So kind and happy, full of life. His infectious laugh and fun loving attitude made him one of a kind.

    Peace to all of you,
    Howard Heisler & Germaine Cheslock

  125. Last of the FNHS class of ’81 TNT bartenders is gone. Jon Tibbets, Bruce Zaeske and now John Mari.
    RIP Jonny.

  126. Lynne, Dr. Jordan, Jade and Jarett

I was so saddened to hear of the loss of John. I never knew John but knowing you all, some of the extended family as well as reading the guestbook, you had a great man there. I am so very sorry for that loss. Prayers to you and all of your extended family.

  127. John’s hearty laughter and smile will always be remembered. Never forget his fainting response to getting eye drops put in at PUCO. Helped us to remember the condition and even got him into the Eric Clapton song we sang about proparacaine. I’m very sorry for Lynn and your family as I’m sure he was loved.

  128. Our hearts and prayers are with your entire family. We’ve had the opportunity to get to know many members of your family over the past years, through our dear friends Jackie & Dan. John (and the entire family) always made you feel as though he had all the time in the world to spend just visiting with you. We found this to be true at work and outside of work. The loss of someone so kind, caring and outgoing will be felt by the whole community in some way. May you all feel some comfort in the assurance that he is with our heavenly Father. Hugs and Prayers for all of you.

  129. I am heartbroken for all of you. I have seen Dr. Mari for years. He was the best. He can never be replaced. There are no words. Sending the whole family, including 20/20 Vison Express family prayers. I mourn with you

  130. My heart breaks for the entire Mari family. John had such a powerful impact on everyone he met. He was kind, generous and fun loving and shared that with so many of us. What a gift! He will be greatly missed.

Lisa, Brady, Rylan and Olivia Drake

  131. Lynne and families my deepest condolences on the loss of your husband, father, son and friend. My prayers to you Lynne at the sorrowful time. Rest in Peace John.

  132. My husband Charlie Petry and I send our heartfelt condolences to the whole Mari family at this very difficult time. We were pleased to know John as a hockey dad with our wonderful hockey girls and also as an eye care doctor to everyone in our family. Jordan, Jade and Jarett, please know how proud your dad was of all of you. In the years leading up to when I switched doctors from John to Jordan, something I knew would happen years in advance, because we kept track of the lives of our children together, John shared Jordan’s scholastic progress along with the accomplishments of the rest of the Mari clan. Jade and Jarett “Jet”, he loved you so much and loved to say your names in conjunction with whatever you were doing. Lynne, I can’t even imagine your loss and I want to send you a giant hug. Jeff and Kaley, Katelyn and Audra, please know our hearts are hurting for you all. John was such a bright light and Justo had to have been as well, in order to have such a stellar and giant family. Arms around you all.

  133. John was a very gentle and funny guy. I remember him as part of many high school fun times…..when we took State in hockey and many other times where he would just laugh and joke and fill the room. I remember meeting him in Chemistry class and how he even made that class fun. So sorry to hear about your loss.

  134. Please accept my condolences at this shocking news..Dr Mari was a terrific doctor and his personality and warm sense of humor always stayed w me…im so sorry for your loss…he held my nervous hand thru laser surgery a million years ago…May the Lord bless and keep you..

  135. Sorry to hear about John’s passing. I worked for John at the Red River Eye Clinic back in his early days. Enjoyed working for him easy going and later he was a good friend and neighbor to my son-in-law and daughter. So sorry to hear of his passing. Will keep Lynne and family in my prayers.

  136. It was my joy and privilege to work with John for several years. His commitment to excellence while at the same time being upbeat, fun and kind made him a great partner. I have met few who could maintain humor, patience and excellence all day long, every day while working hard to help patients. My respect and great memories will stay with me. Lynn and family, am so sorry for your loss. it is an unbelievably tragic occurence. Ranae and I are thinking of you all and are mindful of you in prayer. love to all.

  137. So very sorry for the loss of both John and Justo.
I saw Justo often when visiting my Mom at Kind-er Care. He was quite the gentleman!

  138. We are saddened to hear of Dr. John passing. He was a genuine person of caring for his patients. This showed through his family business. He passed on a great legacy to his daughter. We hope your memories sustain you, Lynne, and family. Keep the faith!
    Mark and Joanne Zaharia

  139. Always remember John as an upbeat friendly guy with a big smile. The numerous comments on this website reflect the lasting, positive impact he had on people throughout his life. Condolences to the family.

  140. To your hole family that gave me such great times and always made me feel like one of the family. My heart aches for you. I know God has his loving arms around you all. I always think of John because he gave me the name Monica. (You know which one I’m talking about 😂😂). My prayers are with you all. Much love. Elaine

  141. This is shocking to me. John was so full of life. He brought happiness to all those around him. The way he treated people is something we can all strive for. He was a great man. It sounds trite, but I think it is worth saying that he truly helped me to see better than any other provider. I certainly saw him for the quality of his care, but also enjoyed catching up with him, like so many of his patients and friends…most often one and the same. Many great memories for anyone that spent time with him. He will be greatly missed by all who loved him. My heart goes out to Lynne, the entire family, and all those who cared so much for John, which is a long, long list.

  142. Mari Family,
My sincere condolences are with you all. Jordan, Jade and Jarett, I’m sending love and prayers to you and to Lynne, so very sorry for the loss of your great love.

  143. It was hard to fathom the news of Dr. Mari’s passing. I instantly replayed the Valley Laser/TLC days, where I had the privilege of working with him. His laugh and smile will never be forgotten. My heartfelt condolences to Lynne and family, and his closest friends. Your sudden loss I imagine unbearable. But, I don’t doubt you’ll feel his presence often when you think of him and share countless stories.

  144. We were sooo very saddened to hear about the sudden and tragic loss of John. Having worked right alongside as his assistant for many years at VLEC/TLC, John was always a professional and positive personality, and feel blessed to have learned from the very best! He always spread joy and was a bright light wherever he went. I feel very lucky our paths crossed. I have many fond fun memories, and know he will be greatly missed by many. Our thoughts, hearts, and prayers are with the Mari Family now, and in the challenging days ahead.

  145. We are so sorry to hear of your great loss!! Our heartfelt sympathy & prayers go out to you! He was such a good ophthalmologist & a great guy! May you find comfort & peace in God’s loving arms.!

  146. So sorry for your loss. Such fond memories of our years living near you in Round Hill. So happy we have these to remember. He will be missed.

  147. Our sincerest condolences to all of you during this most incredible difficult time. Prayers to all of you.
Scott, Kristin, Zach, Erica and Jake Peters

  148. Our thoughts and prayers are with you! John will be so missed. His sense of humor and smile brightened the day for so many.

  149. To the Mari families,
We are so sorry to hear of such an unimaginable loss for all of you. John was on my first state hockey championship team in 81. My graduating class took state in 82. We all went on to raise our kids to experience the love of hockey. It was such a wonderful group of people that brought us all together. Such great memories. Both John and his dad were great fathers, husbands, grandfathers, friends, neighbors etc. They were also truly blessed. What a wonderful life. We hope that you find comfort in the memories you shared.

  150. This is hard to write. I have no words to express my the shock and the feelings of loss I have in Johns passing. I know that Lynn, Jordan, Jade, Jarett and the rest of the Mari family must share this feeling. I know John was a kind of happy go lucking person, always finding something to smile or laugh about. You always knew when John was in the room with that trademark laugh. I’ve know John for over 40 + years. I went to high school and played football with John at Fargo North High. I was a lineman and John was a running back, he never seemed to appreciate my “Look Out Block” technique. John and I attended NDSU and were in the same Optometry class together (PUCO class of 89). I did not socialize much with the John after optometry school, seems work, kids, hockey, and life got in the way, but we did get together and talk and laugh at our optometry meetings. It would not be unusual for John and I to sit next to each other at the meetings and keep each other awake through the CE classes. I will miss our conversations and hearing your laugh. Well, John, until we meet again, save a chair for me. selfishly though, I hope you don’t mind if I don’t occupy that chair for awhile. Although, it seems now a days, who knows, I might be occupying that seat sooner than I might think. I know you didn’t expect to be gone either. Peace be with you and to your family.

  151. I took some time to reflect on the heartbreaking news of Dr. Mari’s sudden passing. I am still in shock about the loss of such a wonderful man.
It was only a few years ago that my sales job in eye care brought me to Fargo, ND. When I arrived in town, Dr. Mari along with his staff at 20/20 and immediate family welcomed me with open arms. Something that I will never forget. What an absolute honor and privilege to have known and spent time with Dr. Mari. He was was kind, compassionate, joyful, funny, and real. His passion and love for his family and friends was evident every time I saw him…. and he was proud to call Fargo his home. I can still picture him sharing his childhood and family stories and the twinkle in his eye when he spoke about his three children and Lynne. I will always cherish our business meetings over dinners at Porter Creek and the after dinner drinks I shared with him, Jordan, and AJ.
Dr. Mari was the best and I am truly a better person from knowing him. Please remember to lean on the people that love during this time and down the road as time passes. We are here for all of you and always will be. May God wrap all of John’s friends and family with everlasting love and comfort as you navigate through this awful time. He lit up the room with his fantastic laugh, made a difference in people’s lives with his presence, and leaves behind a strong and beautiful legacy.
    May he Rest In Peace.
All of my love and prayers.

  152. My condolences to the entire Mari family. I’ve had Dr. John Mari and Dr. Jordan Mari for my eye doctors for many years. I was just shocked when I heard the news. It just won’t be the same at the Dr. office. To Lynn and family, I hope all of your wonderful family memories will help to get you through this sad time. My thoughts and prayers are with all of you.

  153. So saddened by to hear that Dr. Mari has passed. He was my eye doctor for the past 12 years or so. My heart goes out to his family and friends. Hugs and prayers

  154. To the Mari Family,
I heard about John and Justo last week and I wanted to extend my sincerest condolences to Lynne and her family; as well as Marilyn, Jackie, Jeff and the rest of the Mari family. Your family and the losses you are all going through have been weighing heavily on my mind since I heard the news.

John’s passing was especially shocking and made me extremely sad. In January of 2020 my own husband of 30 years also unexpectedly passed away at the age of 55. I’m just so sorry John’s wife and kids also have to experience the sudden, tragic and unexpected loss of John; someone who should’ve had so many more years of living to do.

Like John, I also was diagnosed with covid here in Fargo; in fact, it was probably around the same time. (My diagnosis was on Nov. 2nd). I’m still struggling to understand why it affects people so differently, and it sure isn’t fair that it was able to take John away from all of you.

I knew the Mari family from their days in Bottineau. Dr. Justo Mari was my doctor for my childhood asthma and John was in my class. Even though Maris left for Fargo in 1975, John stood out amongst our class and was easy to remember. He was probably the smartest kid in our grade. He always — ALWAYS — won the math speed tests in 2nd grade (Mrs. Nelson’s homeroom)! He was one of the funniest and most athletic kids in our class, too. I also remember him playing percussion in band. Probably the reason I remember this so well is because the percussion section was directly behind the saxophone section (where I was) and the percussionists were always having fun. (Much to our band director Mr. Whiteman’s dismay. Lol) John was very well-liked by everybody; he was just a really well-rounded and nice guy.

(I should probably also note that my Aunt Patty (Emerson) — one of my mom’s sisters — is married to Diane Mari’s brother, Ivan Erickson.)

May the happy memories of John and Justo carry and sustain all of you though this unbelievably difficult time and beyond. My prayers are with all of you.

  155. Mari family so sorry for your loss, we will always cherish the times spent with you during the Omaha AAA day’s. We will never forget Johno’s great smile and awesome personality and his great line of holyyy. May John Rest In Peace our thoughts and prayers are with you. Sincerely the Polglaze family or as John would call me Poltergeist

  156. Lynne and family,
We are incredibly sorry for your huge loss! John knew how to live life to the fullest. He made anyone around him feel special and his passion for life shined through. We were truly blessed to have known John!! Our thoughts and prayers are with you all.!
    Jen, Tim, Jack, and Kate

  157. Lynne and Family,

I am so very sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you and your family. You have another angel watching over all of you. John will always be with you.

  158. Lynn and family,

We were so shocked and saddened to hear of John’s passing. His smile and big heart will live on in memories of all that knew him. John was a great man and will be missed by all. Know that you are in our thoughts and prayers during this difficult time.

  159. I’m sorry for your loss. Ya’ll probably don’t remember me but John and i used to hang out when you lived in Botno across from the college dorms while we were in grade/middle school.

He always loved playing hockey at recess during the winter with a ball as a puck. He always also claimed that he scored 500 goals which may have been a stretch?

I now live in Australia and was told by my mother what had happened just today.

    Doug Metzger
    Baldivis, Western Australia, Australia

  160. Lynne and family. I am so sorry for your loss. My thoughts and prayers are with you during this time.

  161. My deepest condolences – may the many memories of happy times hold your heart during your grief.
All my prayers – Kelli Wegscheid, harmonious Architecture, Perham.

  162. I am so shocked and saddened by the news of the loss of Dr. John Mari. He’s been my optometrist for the past 21 years. I loved being a client of his because he always greeted me with a big smile and it was always easy to carry on a conversation with him. On several occasions I would run into him outside of the office and he would always greet me like a friend. He will be greatly missed! My condolences and prayers go out to his family and loved ones.

  163. We were deeply saddened to hear about the death of a great friend and great optometrist. We were so grateful to know John through girls hockey when our daughter Emily and Jordan were rivals and later teammates on select hockey teams. When we moved to Fargo 8 years ago we were grateful to know an optometrist we would go to. Our hearts are heavy as I know all of Johns friends and families are. Rest In Peace and God bless all of Johns beautiful family.

  164. Our sympathies to the Mari family for your losses. We certainly enjoyed having John as an optometrist. He was always a pleasant guy and you could see that he had a fun spirit in him.

  165. Today is the memorial service and the Thompson’s are still in shock over the loss of John. We hope you can find peace in the fact he loved his family first and part of his spirit lives in and with you. It was always a pleasure to see John. Our thoughts and prayers to all of you

  166. Prayers to Lynne and the family. I haven’t seen John a lot since High School but it was always the same, John’s big laugh, songs at a campfire and great memories. John was just one of those people that made you smile and made life better for everyone he met.
    God Bless,
    Terry

  167. To the Mari Family,

I feel honored to have known John, and to have shared in many days of laughter around him.

John filled the rooms with special joy and happiness, and always had a sunny way, and a heart of gold. He made many people’s lives so much brighter, just by being himself, sharing laughter was typical of him. He has left so many warm happy memories for his family and friends, and will never be forgotten by so many.
Love and prayers to Lynn and his family.

  168. To the Mari family,
Please accept our deepest sympathy. We want you to know that many people are praying for you in your time of need.

  169. So sorry to learn of John’s passing. I used to be a lake neighbor of John and the Mari family. I always enjoyed John – his friendly greetings and ready smile. My sympathies, thoughts and prayers go out to the Mari family.

  170. Marilyn and family, I’m so deeply sorry for your loss. My heart and prayers are with you and your family. Words are hard to come by in times like these, but know my thoughts and prayers are with you always.

  171. I am so sorry for your loss. He always had a smile on his face and his optimism was contagious. He will be well missed by the optometric community. My prayers and sympathy to your family.

  172. John,
you will be missed, nothing but great things can be said. We are so sorry for the loss your family has.
    Rest easy friend,
    -Carol and Jayme Paquin

  173. The loss of John is still surreal. Dear Mari family, please know we are thinking of you every day. I first heard that infamous laugh working with John at the Trader! Later in life it was wonderful to catch up with Dr.John. It was always evident how devoted to his profession and his family he was. His broad smile and jovial presence will not be forgotten. Our deepest sympathies for the loss of John and Justo.

  174. Mari families,
May God comfort and hold all of you tightly in his arms during this most sad and difficult time. John and Justo are now in the loving arms of our heavenly father and will be missed by all who knew them and their loving, kind and caring spirits.

  175. We are so devastated by John’s death to Covid and heartbroken for all friends and family. Growing up in North Fargo, I remember John being at our house, his mischievous smile, the tempo of his laugh, and a thousand hockey games and several state tournaments.

  176. I am so sorry for your loss. I worked with Dr. Mari and Dr. Womack way back in the TLC Laser Vision days. He always had a smile and was a genuinely happy man. He will be missed

  177. My heart grieves for all of you may God give you the strength to endure your journey, you are in my prayers.

  178. Dear Lynne and all the Mari family. I knew John and family when he was young in Bottineau in 1974-75. He was a go getter like the rest of his family. I followed him as a Spartan as I graduated there. Bless all of you and John , Rest in peace.

  179. Nov. 20
    Dear Lynne & family,
I just learned of John’s passing and want to wish my heartfelt condolences to you. I watched the whole tribute to John and saw that you have made a beautiful family with wonderful memories to cherish forever! I’ll keep you in my prayers!
    Your college roommate and friend,
    Jill (Beach) Lubben

  180. I met John during my clinical preceptorship at Eyecare Associates in 1999. He was an excellent mentor and just an overall great guy! I can still clearly hear his authentic and boisterous voice. It would be impossible to miss John if he was in your presence. He will be missed!
