To the children and grand children of Janice aafedt: I was so very sorry to hear about the passing of your beloved mother and grand mother. Janice was the only female cousin my age and I looked forward to spending a summer’s week visiting my aunt Jessy, uncle Elmer and Janice. We were little girls and teen agers together and always enjoyed our brief times together. Life gets busy, we lost touch, but I will always cherish my happy memories of spending time on a farm. I was the “big city” cousin from Mpls. Uncle Elmer named his milk cows after all our mother’s sisters…there were 9 of them! Please accept my condolences, I know you will miss her very much!

O’Fallon IllinoisI am so very sorry to hear of the loss of your mother/ grandmother. Janice was a good friend for many years. I admired her singing voice and her laugh. She was a bridesmaid in my wedding. We spent a lot of time together in Fordville when Shawn was a baby. She and her family often came to visit us in Grand Forks. She will be missed. God’s blessings on her family in their grief.

My condolences to Janice’s family. I grew up a couple of miles from Thoe’s and I have many happy memories of them! Janice and I spent many happy hours swimming and/or ice skating at Cooper Dam, about halfway between our farms. Harley worked for my dad off and on. I was so happy to be able to visit with Janice at the Dahlen celebration not long ago – hadn’t seen her in years. Treasure the memories!!

My sincere sympathy to all. Jan was one of the first friends I made when I moved to Fordville. As a member of the same church and as a parent of students I taught at Fordville school we shared many things. I always enjoyed her Christmas letters and we often had coffee when I was in Fargo and catch up. As I am in Fargo now recovering from quadruple bypass heart surgery your Mom was on my list of calls to make. I was thinking about her this past week strange how that is. Thoughts and prayers are with you all.

Jan was a wonderful person. We were neighbors for years. She was a gentle person that would do anything for you. The neighbor always got together and did you spring cleaning our the yards. We would all be fithy dirty and Newell would be on his garden tractor sing, I like my women on the trashy side. Oh how Jan would laugh. She has such a wonderful laugh. We were honored to take care of her cats when she went to visit Shawn. My son decided to brush her cat one time and I swear he took of half of the cat’s fur. Jan just laughed. She was a pure delight to be around. I will miss having coffee with her or a burger and a beer. God has taken home a pure angel. I was bless to have known Jan. Our deeps sympathy to the family.
