Roger A. Thorseth, 71, passed away Tuesday, December 1, 2020 due to a prolonged battle with Covid.
Roger was born August 6, 1949 in Williston, North Dakota to Arthur and Selma (Wanberg) Thorseth. He graduated from Fargo Central High School in 1966. He enlisted in the United States Navy in 1967 and he served 4 years on a submarine, the USS Dace. He married Deborah Anderson on November 22, 1968 at Fargo Moravian Church. He was honorably discharged from the United States Navy on November 22, 1971.
He worked construction for a few years following his discharge before going to work for the Fargo Fire Department for 30+ years, retiring in 2005.
He was a diehard Minnesota Vikings fan and always loved to cook and barbeque, especially for his family and Fire Department friends. He was a home body but also enjoyed traveling. He and Deb loved to travel to warm destinations in the winter. Cruises, California and Hawaii were his favorites.
He is survived by his wife of 52 years, Deb; children, Melissa (Seth) Cote, Jonathan (Sara Bennett) Thorseth, adopted grandchildren; Caliann, Christopher, Courtney, and Coda Thorseth, grandchildren; Tyler, Hanna, and Elizabeth Cote, Dylan and SuAnna Grant, all of Fargo, ND; brothers, Maynard (Linda) Thorseth, Detroit Lakes, MN, John (Petra) Thorseth, Boise, ID, brothers-in-law; Douglas (Janis) Anderson, Sturgis, SD, Terry (Mona) Anderson, West Fargo, ND and sister-in-law, Sandra (Rob) Koiner, Fargo, ND and many nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, son, Chris in 2015, daughter-in-law, Kayla Thorseth in 2018, brother, Dennis Thorseth and sister-in-law, Kristi Moen.
Celebration of Roger’s Life: 1:00 P.M. Monday, December 7, 2020 at Hope Lutheran Church, North Campus, Fargo with visitation starting at 12:00 P.M.

Roger was my cousin, I have many fond memories of our childhoods. I and my family here in Washington send our condolences to Deb and the entire family, we wish we could have spent more time together and know you will be comforted by the memories you share as well.
Wonderful man and friend. We have many fond memories spending time with Roger and Deb. He will be missed.
Missy, Deb, John, Tyler and family, I am so sorry to hear of Roger’s passing. I will remember him fondly. Wishing peace for you all.
Roger was my younger by four years. We had many visits over the last few years. I feel fortunate that we had the time for those visits.
Roger was full of sass and always ready to share his opinion on the Vikings and certain political issues!
He always said I used to beat him up when we were little, but I never believed him.
He will be greatly missed.
Our deepest sympathy to Deb, Missy, Jon and all family. We will always remember Roger’s sharp wit,and off the wall sense of humor accompanied by a twinkle in his eyes.
Everyone will miss him. We will carry him in our hearts and memories. May you find peace.

We finally had the pleasure of meeting Roger this year after our son and Ellie had been dating for 3 years! He came to our son’s grad party with his long hair and a hat on. He referred to himself as Ellie’s hippie grandpa 😁 By the time Ellie had her grad party Roger had gotten a haircut and was not wearing a hat. We didn’t recognize him and introduced ourselves to him again 🤣 I wish we would have had more time to get to know him better. Such a great personality and a caring individual. Our heartfelt thoughts go out to Deb and all the kids on their loss 😢
Roger was my beloved brother, friend, listener, and was and will ever be “My North Star “
I worked with Deb for many years at Dakota Clinic & have many fond memories of Roger & Deb.

Sorry to hear of Rogers passing Gods speed to all of his family He was a great neighbor for 20 plus years and was always fun to visit with. Even put out my house fire for me in 1990 And we will never forget!! Rest in peace my friend!!
I was so sorry to read of Roger’s passing. I enjoyed seeing him again and visiting at Maynard and Linda’s open house. My sympathies to all.
Roger was my uncle, and I have so many fond memories of family gatherings and visits with him, Deb, Chris, Missy, and Jonathan. I’ll always remember his sense of humor, the hilarious stories the family shared when we spent time together, and his laughter. He will remain in my memory always. Deb, Missy, John, you all have my deepest sympathy.
Roger was a special man who put so many smiles on our faces & created many wonderful memories of our neighborhood on N 10th St. Camping, NFL football league, the men’s polar poker evenings, all the kids playing together & his captivating story telling … the memories go on & on. Deb our deepest sympathy to you and all the family. Our hearts feel your pain and know that Roger will be missed by all.
Roger was the best brother-in-law you could wish for. We had some good fishing trips in Oahe, SD and Devils Lake, ND. You will be missed. Love you. Terry and Mona

i have told many fun stories that i did with Roger. And will keep telling them stories. And it seems like every time i went back to Fargo i had a new story. Really going to miss that sense of humor . He will greatly be missed
Roger was my brother in law for 52 years and I’m 60. I’ll always remember him trying to prank me when I was a young girl. It worked a lot and I know he really enjoyed pulling one over on me. Then when I got older I never believed anything he said. He was a good man and he will be missed by all who knew him.
