Maura and I crossed paths several times. My first memory of her was in 1970 when I heard her speak at an anti-war demonstration at Moorhead State College. I was so impressed by this woman who was around my mother’s age and I remembered her name. Years later I became one of the first Developmental Disabilities Case Manager in ND following the ARC lawsuit and became Tom’s case manager. She was a tenacious and effective advocate for Tom but also for others with disabilities. I always looked forward to our meetings and discussions. Years after I left that work, our paths crossed again while attending various spiritual/philosophical lectures and study groups. A year ago she moved into The Linden at Eventide where my father lived and we connected once there before she moved to St. Paul. We need more people like Maura in this world.
