Margaret’s services will be livestreamed and viewable below starting at 7:00 PM Tuesday, December 9, 2025 and 2:00 PM Wednesday, December 10, 2025:

Margaret Ann Sapa Hartze was born in Britton, SD to Joseph and Helen Sapa. She lived in Rutland, ND until 1958 when her family moved to Fargo, ND. Margaret attended Shanley High School where she met many life long friends. After high school she complete her schooling at Dakota Business College.

Margaret was married and divorced and had five children, baby Jacqueline, Steve Hartze, Stacia (Dean) Ambuehl, Matthew (Denise) Hartze and Becky Borg.

Throughout Margaret’s life she worked as a bookkeeper. She had worked at many different places but most recently at Exhaust Pros.

Margaret had many hobbies and activities such as gardening, traveling, church activity at St. Anthony’s, and neighborhood bible study. She was passionate about visiting and socializing as much as she could. Whether it was with her Shanley classmates, family reunions, her girls weekends at the lake, BE retreats, or St. Anthony “Sleeping Bag” slumber parties. Mom loved her role as grandma whether it was spending time with them shopping, baking, or supporting their sporting or musical activities. Mom also talked about retirement when she had not been well. Her feeling was that being retired was like waiting for death to happen. We want to thank the Exhaust Pros family because we truly believe her working there gave her a purpose for life everyday.

Margaret will always be remembered for her love of spending time with family, friends, and church family. Her sparkling smile and warm memories of her will live on in the hearts of all of those who loved her so much.

Margaret is survived by her sister Jean (Dave) Seifert, children Steve Hartze, Staci (Dean) Ambuehl, Matt (Denise) Hartze, and Becky Borg. Grandchildren Trey, DJ, and Joey (Steve), Jackson, Brady, and Piper (Staci), Taylor, Morgan, and Logan (Matt), and Adair and Maranda (Becky). Great-grand child Emerson (Trey). And many nieces and nephews who considered her their second mom.

Margaret was preceded in death by her parents Joseph and Helen Sapa, siblings Alacoque Gibb (Bob), Mary Helen Konewko, Jerry Sapa, Joe Arthur, three infant siblings, and her infant daughter Jacqueline.

  15. Stacie, Beckie,Matt, Steve, and families,
My heart breaks for you all, I had the sweet pleasure of spending time with your mom just a handful of times, but every time was a beautiful memory!! I know she was not only so amazingly special to all of you, but to many others as well. Mark and Shirley have many memories of Margaret that they have shared over the years! She proved to be a special lady and I’m sad for you all for the empty space that this will leave in all of your lives!! I love you all❤️

  16. My deepest sympathies to all of you.
My memories of your Mom go beyond my time at St. Anthony’s as a beginning Teacher.
I am forever grateful for her welcoming smile, encouragement, and joy.
Dear Becky, I can still picture you as you were then and even hear your voice, your laugh. You were true joy as well.
    With love to you.
    Ginny Poindexter

  17. Aunt Margaret…always a steady, familiar, and calming voice, there to guide and comfort me & others. As my godmother, you were one of the earliest influences in my life… In 1990, you stepped in…always apologizing for not being sufficient to fill the void left by my mother’s (your sister’s) passing. Yet you took us under your wing like a protective mother hen, dutifully and lovingly caring for us all. Your reassuring, comforting smile and reliable, straightforward advice have been one of the guiding lights of my life. No need for an apology; your own brand of humility and selflessness has left a positive impact on so many of those around you. My final regret is that I am literally halfway around the world, unable to physically participate in the celebration of your life with family and friends. To all of the Hartze kids… we share an amazing bond in cousinhood, one which transcends the decades since we gathered, playing at Grandma’s house. Those memories, many made possible through your mom, have lasted and sustained us all these years. Now we honor the passing of this lovely Sapa girl…to be welcomed by family members on the other side.

  18. Our time in Fargo was marked with our St. Anthony friends. The Sleeping Bags is one of my most favorite memories as it was our best way to keep connected. Margaret was definitely one of our most fun members. I treasure her memory along with our other Sleeping Bags. Rest in Peace,Margaret.

    • I will truly miss you lady, we had some great conversations, you and Jean lighted up the town of Rutland, when you were here visiting Jerry, who was a dam good friend, and to Steve, Staci,Matt@Becky, I will miss her greatly,
with my sympathies, I Love you all, Sincerely Agner!

  19. Pat Silseth-Saewert says:

Truly beautiful woman and her smiles radiates the love for life she lived. Growing up our families spent a lot of time together… whether it was visiting in Fargo or going to Art & Nellie’s farm in Rutland. You will be missed but your spirit will live on in our hearts. 💞

  20. To My Dear Locker Buddy Stacie,
