Marilyn R. Schwindt
September 5, 1942 ~ February 4, 2024
Marilyn’s Funeral Mass will be livestreamed below starting 1:30 PM Monday, February 12, 2024.
Marilyn (Anderson) Schwindt went home to the Lord on February 4, 2024 at the age of 81.
Marilyn was born to Lillian and Marvin Anderson on September 5, 1942 in Breckenridge, MN. As a child, she was very active, and when she wasn’t milking cows, she would have been seen playing softball or enjoying the great outdoors.
Marilyn’s first job was being a secretary at Sturdevant’s in Wahpeton, ND. She married the love of her life, Al Schwindt on December 30, 1970. Marilyn and Al soon moved to Fargo, ND, where she went on to work at Central Auto, Avon, United Electric, and the NDSU Varsity Mart. Rather than chasing a career, she put her family first and wasn’t afraid of changing jobs for the betterment of her and her family. Once she retired, Marilyn focused on her family, friends, and her love for the outdoors.
Marilyn was a gentle but a resilient woman who was always there for her children and grandchildren. She was a source of wisdom, whether the question was, “This potato looks a little green, is it ok to eat?” or “Can you help me get through this difficult time?” She was a faithful woman and, by God’s grace, exhibited every fruit of the spirit (Galatians 5:22-23): love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, goodness, faith, humility, and self-control. No matter how bad things seemed, she always had hope and faith in God and encouraged those around her to keep believing and moving forward.
In addition to being a dedicated mother, Marilyn also loved reading books, watching birds, caring for her plants, camping, fishing, and her ND elk hunt. Her pride and joy was our lake home. Marilyn enjoyed family, friends, nature, and watching various animals frolic outside through her large glass windows.
Marilyn joins her parents, Marvin and Lillian, in Heaven. She left behind her husband, Al; her children, Annette and Robert; her siblings, Peder (Susan) Anderson, Evangeline (Earl) Johnson, and Christian (Anita) Anderson. She is also survived by many grandchildren, nieces, and nephews.

A last greeting from your distant Norwegian relatives
Dear Al and family, I’m so very sorry for the loss of Marilyn. Although we live across the state, I will remember her as a sweet and loving wife and mother. Deepest sympathies from me and my kids. Hugs. Joyce Dvorak
To Al and family,
Our deepest sympathies in the loss of Marilyn.

Marilyn was always concerned about others, always very caring and loving. She was Pete’s big Sis and she enjoyed that role, always checking up on how things were going for him. We have some great memories of holidays and gatherings at the farm in Wahpeton. Our kids always remember those times with great fondness. It’s where they learned to love the land and to fish and shoot. There was never a shortage of love and always an abundance of fresh home cooked meals. It’s amazing how many relatives we could fit into that small farmhouse kitchen and after the evening meal there was usually guitar, fiddle, and singing. It will be a great day when we can all meet together again in the sweet by and by. All our love, Pete and Sue Anderson
